What is the best die cutter for crafts/scrapbooking?

The wishblade is too much so please leave that out. I am really interested in the cricut, but I am looking for other opinions. I do not have any cutters and have never used one. I know for the cricut you have to buy cartridges, but what else do you need to buy that are "must haves" to use it? do you have to use cricut special paper or will any paper or cardstock work? I want to be able to cut fonts and make 3-d looking diecuts. there is some cutter that always advertises in the front of Creating Keepsakes magazines that makes super cute die cuts (people, animals, etc) what is that called and does the cricut make similar things?

I used to have a cricut and then buying cartridge after cartridge got to be too much for me. So I sold my machine and all the cartridges I had and had enough to buy a QK silhouette. They are like $299, in case that is in your budget. But on to your questions about the cricut. I loved my cricut. The only downfall I had with it is the constant buying cartridges. Everything else I loved about it. You can use any cardstock with it. They sell a tool kit for it but the only thing in the tool kit that I really used was the thing to help get your images off the mat (because the mat is sticky) and for that you could use a pampered chef stone scraper or if you have one of those Creative Memories sticker tools they work good too. They keep coming out with more and more cartridges also so you will have a vast variety of images and fonts. I hope that helped some.

How do you know if buttons are safe for scrapbooking?

I’d like to use buttons in my scrapbooking pages, but I don’t want to pay the price for what they sell in craft stores. What materials are generally safe (acid/lingin-free) to use on scrapbook pages?

Go to CropMom at http://www.cropmom.com and use your photos and CropMom’s graphics to create your scrapbook. They have thousands of graphics including buttons. It is fund, easy, and safe.

I would love to make my own ScrapBook Kits but have no idea where to start!?

I’m using Adobe and have a basic idea of its functions, yet I’m lost when it comes to desining a ScrapBook Kit to post on blogs and such. Please help! What resolution? What format? How do I make preview files? What size? Templates? Ahhhhh!!!!
Thank-You VERY VERY much for your time :)

Research your market;-} find out what’s out there.
Ask your potential users what they like/dislike.
Take a scrapbook class at Michaels, for instance.

Is a Cricut personal cutting machine worth getting? I don’t do alot of scrapbooking & the Expression is pricey?

Which Sizzix machine is the better one to get?

It really depends on whether you’ll get your money worth or will it just take up space? A Silhouette is a digital cutter where you cut designs from your computer instead of from cartridges. I also have a cuttlebug for embossing and die cutting. The downside of die cuts on the cuttlebug is you can’t change sizes. You CAN buy dies that come in different sizes. Go to a local scrapbook store and see what types of toys they have. They even may let you try them out.

Want tips for storing digital scrapbook kits, papers, and elements.?

Hi, I downloaded some digital scrapbooking kits, papers and elements. Any digital scrapbooker out there has some tips for how to store them. How should I sort them out and or categories them, so that I can pull out the needed items without browsing thru all of them? Any great tips? Thank you so much!!

I sort mine by designer.
Like I will have a file for Kay Miller and all of her scrap kits will be in that file.
THen under each designer you can do sub files like for certain holidays, or girly kits…etc…

Scrapbooking ideas for a school project?

I have to do this project about global warming.
And i chose to do a scrapbook of whats going to happen if we dont stop it.
So any ideas for pictures and how to decroate them?
Thank you!

It doesn’t need to be too fancy, but it does need to be to the point to accomplish your assignment. Why don’t you do some sort of timeline using your different pages. Get pictures or graphs of what the world looked like 50 years, 40 years, 30 years ago, etc.

Write something (this is called journaling in scrapbook lingo) about what it was like during that time period. As your pages become more current, write about what has happened to explain how the environment has degraded over time.

Explain what has become extinct or is on the endangered lists because of global warning. In your last pages, concentrate on measures that can be taken to lessen the impact. Your last few pages could just be text arranged artfully if you don’t have any illustrations to aide you.

As a lasting impression, try to make your book with recycled materials.

Good luck! Hope this inspires you and gives you a good starting point.

Do u need cricut cartridges to use the cricut design studio and if not do you need to pay to get images?

I am getting the cricut design studio in a few days and i saw that you can get all the images in the cricut library with the design studio but then i scrolled down on the same page and it said cartridges needed for design studio. I am realy confused. And if you don’t need the cartridges to u have to pay for the images you get off the design studio?
Please answer if you know.
Thank you :)

Search through the Cricut Cartridge Library for the image you are looking for.You will be able to search through thousands of images using an easy keyword search option. With updates the Cricut Design Studio software will let you explore the newest cartridges available.

The library previews what is available on the cartridge, you need the cartridge to make the cuts.

Specifically, what I want is a die cut to cut wallet size prints. Where do I buy one?

Hello! I would like to print some digital pics and have some wallet sizes made to share. I hate the look of trimmed pics. and figure w/ all the scrapbooking things available surely there is a die cut that would cut pics into wallet sizes. Any SERIOUS suggestions would be appreciated. THANK!

Depending on what you want to spend…
There is Provocraft’s Cricut and electronic cutting machine and the cartridge it comes with (George and Basic Shapes) you can cut up to 5.5 inches. They also have a product called a Cuttlebug with dies. Then there is Sizzix who also has dies to use with their Big Kicks or their die press. These are just a start to what’s out there. Check in to a local scrapbook store, Michaels, Hobby Lobby, Joanns, even WalMart to see what will best fit your need.
