Scrapbooking?

Im new at scrapbookin. What are die-cuts?

Die cuts are pieces of paper that are cut into different shapes. Like say a Easter Basket or an egg shape. You can add these to your page to give them a little bit more pazzaz.

I am starting a scrapbooking designer business, and I need help with the payment. Can you help?

I want the customer to give me money to buy their materials. How could I say this in a polite or business way?
Thank you!
This is what I want to do…

Charge for all materials first and foremost, add in sales taxes if applicable and my gas mileage to collect the supplies.

I would provide samples of layouts you have created. I would price your pages based on "basic" layout, "basic Plus" which has a little embellishment, and "Premium" which has more intricate details and embellishments. You should carry certain products as a standard. If you buy them in bulk, you can charge less for their use.

I would recommend a company that has standard prices, like Top Line Creations. You can sign up fpr a 25% discount (or more) on supplies by spending just $25 every 6 months. They have lots of ribbons, papers, gems, pens, etc. You can choose a few companies that you order from for supplies and then let the customer pick what they want. But, honestly, I think it would benefit you more (and cost you less in materials) to have standard layouts that you provide that customers can pick from. They can always change the colors and what-not, but the layout choices are basically the same.

please identify a font for me?

I have a question for all of the scrapbooking mommy’s?

I posted this here because I know a lot of mom’s scrapbook. Now my question is that I do scrapbooking on my computer and just save the finished product on my computer and then add it to my website. Where can I find cute layouts, templates, embellishments and so on that I can use online, I don’t want to order any because I do it all on my computer. If anyone knows I would appreciate your idea’s thanks so much.

Well, I use geocities.com to make my website for my children and they have about a hundred or more different layouts and they are really nice. www.geocities.com/fourcheeks4/travisandaurora That’s my site and I have about 6 different backrounds. Check it out. I use page builder on geocities.

Crafts/Scrapbooking websites, products?

I want to make a scrapbook for lots of things, like holidays, events, or travels. i don`t know what i need and i don`t know how to make it. if you don`t want to explain that then could you find out where i can buy a scrapbooking kit. my friend has an All About Me scrapbook does anybody no about that or any other scrapbooking books or kits?
thanks a bunch

For scrapbooking, try and see if your local craft store offers classes and take a couple to learn the basics about scrapping. It will help you and give you confidence.

You wnat to buy archival products – things free of acid, lignin, etc. This will allow your book to last and not deterioriate or yellow over time. Products in the scrapbooking aisle will say these things on the package.

For starters, get a scrapbook that you like. I tend to get ones with plain covers as I want them to have a similar look on my bookshelf but the option is yours. I also like using 12" x 12" books as this allows for a lot of items on one page, but again the choice is yours. As you go, you will learn what you like.

Items you need to begin: these are some basic tools that are good to start out with. Do not go overboard and start simply. You can add tools as you go.
-12" paper trimmer
-scissors
-adhesive (photo squares, tape runner, etc… Get what you like. I start out with photo squares as they work on everything and you can cut them up to save $$)
-background paper in the size of your book (I buy these when they go on sale – at JoAnn’s right now the 12" is on sale for 5 for $1)
-card stock (I usually buy a pack in various colors)
-pens

These tools will get you started. You basically pick a background paper and the photos you want to go on it. If it’s a 12" sheet I try to get 3 or 4 photos on it.

I trim or "crop" my picture. Do this by looking at your picture and cutting out the unnecessary stuff out of it.

I adhere it to a matte. This is cardstock from my pack that is usually 1/4" larger than my photo.

I then place and attach my photos to the background paper. I also add a journal box. This is a piece of cardstock that I have written on to say what the page is about.

There are many ways to construct a page. You can add stickers, embellishments…really anything. The sky is the limit. I tend to like simpler pages as it is cheaper and doesn’t feel too cluttered to me. It’s really your personal preference. As you get better, you will see what you like.

You can also look on the internet for sample layouts to help you build your page. I also like to create my own embellishments out of my cardstock. For example, I make candy corn to add to autumn pages, stocking for Christmas, etc.

You can buy scrapbooking products at Wal Mart, Target, JoAnn’s, Michael’s, the dollar stores and your local craft stores. Maybe you can get together with a friend or two and you can learn and share together. You can buy kits of paper, stickers, etc already in a pack. This helps you build pages quickly but cost more than buying the items separately.

Good luck!

cheap UK website for buying card and scrapbooking supplies?

Hi -
I’m new to this craft. There are so many websites and E-Bay companies selling cards, envelopes, scrapbooking supplies, punches, etc. etc. I’m going dizzy looking through them ! – Have other crafters discovered anywhere that is reasonably priced and not too much p&p, with a good selection? (UK websites only, please). Please help. Thanks.

I have used e-bay quite a lot for my crafting, and there are some really good bargains out there, you just have to know what you want. I find E-bay really good for the sakura pens they’re so cheap on there, they come from singapore I think but I’ve bought quite a few times from them and had no problems.

also try www.imag-e-nation.co.uk (I think it’s .co.uk) they have no P&P and are good as well. I have so many links for sites, just think of what you’re looking for and google it,

I’m looking for a beach pail and/or beach shovel cricut cartridge, oe die cut. Where can I find these?

I am planning a summer wedding and was hoping to do either design/shape for escort cards.

There’s a new cartridge designed for the beach, that has items like this. I’d also suggest you get the Sure Cuts A Lot software (available on ebay, some hobby/craft stores, online, and others). With the SCAL software, you can use any svg file you can fine online (and there’s other software available), as well as almost any font, including dingbat fonts. With the versitility of this, you can make almost anything you want, in almost any size, and for things like the shovel, you can change the orientation of it, and utilize the 12×24 inch mats for the Cricut. The cost of the SCAL 2 software is around $75-80, but it makes buying more cartridges almost obsolete. Congratulations on your upcoming wedding.

What should I do with my online store?

I used to have an Ebay store but with Ebay getting crazy and me selling items under a dollar that was just not going to work. I opened a freestanding store (I sell mainly die cuts for scrapbooking that I make) but since then have gotten a job outside the home I don’t have the time to promote it or put the time into it that it needs. I’m thinking of making packs and listing them on Ebay but I’m also thinking of maybe just calling it quits and focusing on catching up on my own scrapbooking. My biggest concern, I guess, is that I look at all the paper I have and the die cut machine and can’t help thinking that it should be bringing some money in. What would you do?

Ebay has become insane with their fees. It’s impossible to make money anymore on their site. You may try to use craigslist, not sure of the details there, but it is a free site.
