Does anyone know about the Cricut cartridges?

I want to get the Cricut Imagine and it says that you can use the old cartridges too. Now with using the other cartridges will they print any color like the Imagine cartridges or will you have to use a patterns Imagine cartridge? Also, will you be able to pull apart the image into the layers?

Thank you.

you can use the imagin to "color" the images on the old cartrides and they will cut them out……so you can use a white peice of paper and instead of having to use colored papers to do the different layers you can color them yourself with the ink

hope this helps

Recommend Cricut Cartridges For Beginners ?

Could anyone help with choosing some cricut cartridges for beginners.
I do want image cartridges not fonts :)

They tend to be pretty well themed, depends on what type of cards you want to make, eg, wedding, halloween, animals, etc

Can the cricut cake machine use the cricut cartridges?

Found a cake machine really cheap and thought maybe these would work. Anyone know?

Yes – but not the Imagine cartridges.

Favorite Cricut Cartridges for card making?

I am wanting to get a new cricut cartridge, but I don’t know which to get. There are so many, and I am hoping see what some people’s favorite ones are.

I mainly do greeting cards, and am looking for more of the non-font cartridges.

I already own: Stretch your imagination, Meow Lite, and Create a Critter

Thanks!

What type of cards do you like to make? Specific occasions etc?

Check out MyGrafico, they have a lot of SVG files you can download if you want to buy individual items.

Cricut Imagine with Old Cartridges?

How does the imagine cut and print the with the old cartridges? Does it only fill the image and cut it out? Or does it let you color details like eyes, hair, clothes, etc and then print all in one image, or does it cut out each colored section separately and then you have to piece it together?

you piece it together. from what I have seen. closest thing to a desktop CNC milling machine I have seen. except it’s for people who are into crafts.

What is your favorite Cricut cartridge?

I bought my first Cricut machine the E2 and want to buy a few cartridges to get started. I’d appreciate some suggestions :)

Careful, they get addicting! I actually recommend trying to buy the cartridges used. A lot of people bought this machine when it first came out and now they want to sell their stuff- you can save a lot of money. I would get a script font, a block font (which the machine might have come with), and something with fun shapes that you think you would use often.

does my sister-in law need a new cricut cutting machine if we bought her a cricut cake cartrige?

we bought my boyfriends sister a cricut cake cartridge and we all want to know if she can use her cricut expressions machine with this cricut cake cartridge. does she need a new macahine or can she use her expression?

I don’t know myself but there are a lot of people who use those kinds of die cutting machines on the HGTV "Crafts" boards who could answer you, particularly this one:
http://boards.hgtv.com/eve/forums/a/frm/f/1004031632 …believe it or not, most of the "regular" craft discussions are always in this Holiday Crafts board rather than the General Crafts board for reasons I won’t go into
(You’ll have to join HGTV–free to ask questions, or you can just search for your answer in previous discussions.)

And any scrapbooking site or forum/board should have that info, or just look in the yellow pages then call a local scrapbooking store near you.

most of the function keys won’t work on my Create A Critter Cricut cartridge?

I just opened the Create A Critter cartridge for the first time. I can only use the base shape, shift shape and layer 1 – they all work fine. however, it comes up with the message on screen as N/A when I select layer2, layer 3, accessory, phrase and shadow. HELP!

Got to be in there somewhere .

how can I cut out letters that are attached to each other with the george cricut cartridge?

I just got a cricut cutter and I am trying to find out if I can make one word with it or just individual letters? I only have the george & basic shapes cartridge

The only way to make words that are not already words are with the Cricut Design Studio software. The George cartridge has a few words. Those will cut out in words. For the other letters on the cartridge they will cut as individual letters they will not be welded together.

Design Studio Software:

DS lets you weld individual letters together to make words. You must buy this program. There is a trial version. In the trial version you can only cut with George in the Original cricut. With the Cricut Create you can only use the Don Juan Cartridge and with the Expression you can only use Plantin Schoolbook. Basically whatever cartridge came with the machine is the one you can use with the trial version of DS. Once you buy DS you can use whatever cartridge you own.

The other nice thing about DS is that you don’t have to weld just letters. I used the silhouette heart and placed the name of my mother in law and her husband inside the heart. With it welded everything came out as one piece. So you can weld letters with shapes.

You do need to get a cord to connect your cricut to your computer in order to use DS to cut. The cord should have a usb at one end and a squarish shape on the other (look at the back of your machine, next to the power cord, and you will see it) it’s basically a printer cord.

Here is the link for the trial version of DS. The download link is towards the bottom of the page:

Here is a link to a blog of a wonderful woman who made a bunch of different designs using DS. Before Cricut came out with more cartridges people would ask her to make different things using the George and plantin schoolbook cartridges. She even made a tractor and a transformer head just welding shapes together lol:

This is another blog and she has over 200 videos on using your cricut and each shows you a project that you can do:
