I am researching to purchase a Cricut and I am wondering if I can buy a cartridge and use it on ANY machine? I have a couple friends that have Cricuts and I am hoping to be able to pass the cartridges around to each other. Any answers would be apprieciated!!
yes it can. I own the cricut expression and imagine and love them both. I bought my daughter in law a create which is like a mini expression. I cut a lot of big things so the expression is better for me. But if you want something that is easy to take I think the create is good, but it cuts 6 x 12 while the expression cuts 12 x 24.. The imagine cuts and prints, no more going out and to buy colored paper for just a little piece. Hope that helped
How are they different to regular cricut cartridges? They have a Stamp solutions too- how does that work?
Solution cartridges are simple cartridges. They do a cut and sometimes a shadow, thats it. They do not have the different creative features like regular cartridges. That’s why they’re less expensive, they don’t have as many designs.
I am helping to plan a graduation party this summer for a college graduate and I was wondering if there are any cricut cartridges that could help me. I just ordered a Cricut online and was hoping to find graduation stuff but so far I haven’t. Does anyone know of any cartridges that might help me?
There aren’t any cartridges with a graduation theme. the Locker Talk cartridge has a mortarboard design (graduation cap) and a few other items you might be able to use for a graduation theme, but I don’t think there are enough relevant graphics to warrant buying the cartridge.

You might be better off downloading free graduation themed clip art from Microsoft Clip Gallery and embelishing it with letters cut on your cricut.

All cricut cartridges work in ALL cricut machines except Imgaine Cartridges. Cricut Imagine cartridges only work in the Cricut Imagine and the Cricut 2 that will be coming out in April 2011.
So you can even use the oldest cricut cartridges to cut out cute little cookies or someones name!
I wanted to know if you can use the Cricut Imagine Cartridge with the cricut expression?
I recently looked up this question myself as I am soon trading up to the new Cricut Imagine. Unfortunately, the Cricut Imagine cartridges are a different shape and are not able to work on the other Cricut machines; either the Personal Cutter or the Expression. However the good news is that you can use the earlier cartridges on the newer Imagine, there is a seperate slot for them to go into, so all your old cartridges will still be useful. One other thing to remember is that there are new mats for the Imagine as well so your old ones won’t work. There are special markings on them that the digital scanner uses as reference points. There have been some complaints about the stickiness of the new mats but Cricut has said they are fixing the problem and it should be resolved soon. The only thing I haven’t been able to find out is if there is going to be a new attachment cord to connect the Imagine cartridges to the Gypsy, hopefully there will be.

Personally I think both machines are GREAT and I can’t wait to get the new Imagine myself as I have always been very pleased with Cricut’s entire line of products.
I own the Cricut Personal Cutter and I am thinking about upgrading to the Expression. I know that the cartridges are linked somehow to you, and I wasn’t sure if they were linked to your PC account or your actual machine. I know that you can’t purchase used cartridges online because they won’t work. Can someone help me!

First I would definitely recommend upgrading to the Expression. I’ve owned both and the Expression allows you so many more options it’s well worth the extra money.
Like the previous answerer said the linking of the cartridges really applies only to the Gypsy. The actual cartridges themselves can be used on any of the machines, regardless of which one you used them on first. I’ve had no problems using my older cartridges on my newer machines.

Another great place to look is You Tube. Many people have put up videos addressing specific questions and just showing the differences in how the various machines work. Sometimes it just nice to see the machine in action.

I’m needing some sea animals for a cake, i see these are only on ones for scrapbooking.

Anything and everything you can share will be appreciated! Some have creative features (what are those?), some are not a "full" cartridge (why?) This next may be a stupid question, but…. Ok, I was looking at the "Songbird" font for cricut machines for example, and there are images on the front of the box which I would expect to be images on the cartridge but when you look at a photo of all the images, they are not on there. Also, on the front of the cartridge, lower left, there are images which also don’t seem to be in the photo of all the icluded images. What are those and why are they there? As you can see, I need to know a lot, so please, any info would be great!! Thank you!
Open up the book to the middle where the pictures of the images are and on the right side of the page are the images that will cut if you press the button it says in that section. Isn’t there a DVD or video with your machine? Check out videos on youtube as well.
