The housing is what the blade goes in and you shouldn't need a deep-cut blade just the regular blade should work. I have the regular cricut so I haven't tried using the cricut cake but the deep-cut blade is designed for thick materials not regular paper.

Once you use it for paper though I wouldn't use it for food unless you scrub it really good and don't care if you get paper in your icing.
References :
I think you should do it by hand and computer . You could get a scrapbook and using Word Art you can create a title to print and a picture to go on the front . Also at places like Hobby Craft and Staples or Ryman you can get foil stickers , for your baby photos you could create a border from New Baby stickers and stick photos/items in the centre then write underneath . I created one one a Pantomime is was in last year and included photos and drawings . If you don't have your own photos of a certain place you could use Google Images and cut out photos of you and glue them to another photo of the place to create new memories .

Hope this helps !
References :
www.googleimages.co.uk

Are you the one who is pregnant? Maybe get him a few cute things that have "I'm a Grandpa" or anything cute like that! You could also think of what he might enjoy, like last year, my dad works a strenuous job, and I got him a hand massager and he LOVES it! My mom and I had been getting him DKNY Cologne but he wanted more thought into it.. and maybe you could also get him some nice shoes, or sneakers. Maybe you could also get him an engraved Packers beer glass?
References :
Yes. Use different blades to cut paper if you're going to use your Cricut Cake for scrapbooking. Use those separate from the blades you use for cakes. There are also different size mats you can use with it. Have fun!
References :
http://www.craftingmachines.com/basic-items-you%E2%80%99ll-need-or-want-to-use-with-the-cricut-cutting-machines-by-provo-craft/

I think this is it!

It is called an "EveryDay Display" from Creative Memories. It has small magnets which attach the scrapbook paper to the page and tiny clothespins for attaching photos and things.

Go to: (double click to make larger)
http://projectcenter.creativememories.com/photos/everyday_display_ideas/

You can view them at:
http://www.mycmsite.com/sites/marycluley/Content/Shop/Catalog.aspx?path=/Hierarchy/Paper%20Scrapbooking/Photo%20Displays%20and%20Decorations

It is so beautiful. Decorate to your liking!

And here are great free wedding ideas!
